funny farm

We don't have the pig back yet, but we have a new dog, and a lot of people haven't seen the 'silkies' yet. So here is a rough vid of our new dog and two of the chickens. We will be sure to post pig videos when we bring Jack back.

The dog showed up on Saturday. We gave her some food and water and she never left. Not knowing if she belonged to someone local or was abandoned we left a bowl of food and water beside a bed for her to sleep on. With the gates open we went to Banf and Calgary for 3 days, on Michelle's Bday, came back and the dog was still here. We called her Anu, Japanese for dog.

We got one good snow fall after we came back from Victoria, then it all melted as of yesterday. I have worn nothing but flip flops, until today. We had another heavy snow over night. It will melt enough that I can wear my flip flops to school again tonight.

Easter Sunday

We went out to a friends farm for Easter Sunday. There was 3, 14 year old kids and a few adults. I spent most of my time with the kids shooting gophers in the fields. There was so many gophers, the fields were just destroyed with holes everywhere. It was suggested by people that haven't seen the destruction, that we shouldn't shoot the cute little guys, but they are a real problem out here, as live stock will fall into the gopher holes and break their legs, we fell in a few ourselves. In about 7 hours we shot off a 'brick' of 1000 rounds and killed about 20 gophers. The picture is of my first 'kill'. The picture idea came to me hours later and the gopher seized up in the squirmy looking position it is hanging in. Michelle shot off a couple of rounds, before she went back to the house to hang out with her girlfriend. I think we will invite our friends over with their guns this spring, flood the Moles out of their mole hills, and shoot em up. The traps haven't been working out for us.

Back safe in Andrew

Just made a little vid of the boat delivery we did to Parker, that went very smooth, as you can see from the Vid I even let Michelle drive for a wile.

The snow has mostly melted here now, and uncovered all kinds of lost treasures or garbage. Lots of spring cleaning to do.

The drive home was rather uneventful. We hit the breakfast Buffet on the 9am ferry. I was impressed with that, the price has come down since I last took the ferry. I found they had candied salmon too, which was so good, but at the point that I found it I was kind of full of waffles, strawberries, and whip cream. I was so full I couldn't eat again till 9pm.
We only noticed on the drive home that there is no more pay tolls on the Coquihalla, that was nice.
Around midnight, just coming into Edmonton I clipped a dear with the rear quarter of Michelle's new car. It was bolting across the road, right on us. With no other traffic anywhere I changed lanes wile slamming on the brakes, to try and cross ahead of the dear. I was/am very impressed with the Hyundi's handling and brakes, and we got through the event with only a patch of dirt cleaned off Michelle's car at knee height, and a very faint thud. No dents, blood, broken glass or any other drama. I expect the dear got away with a bruised knee and a phobia of highways.
This is my first Video editing job, just getting into it. Expect many more, and I will probably start yet another blog for my cool monster garage style project videos.

In Victoria

Cramming everything into our 13ish day holiday in Victoria. The highlights have been out on Parker Island. I got to drive the tractor finally, but got it stuck pretty bad. We got some nice pics from Parker island including one off the deck and one of the tractor stuck.
Tomorrow we are delivering an inflatable boat out to Parker island with full floater suits on. Should be lots of fun, we are both looking forward to it. We will try to get some good pictures without getting the camera wet.
